Joe Biden Wins 2020 US Election
President-elect Biden took a conciliatory tone as he gave a speech saying he would be honoured to be the 46th president of the United States.
The President-Elect spoke to a crowd in Wilmington, Delaware to lay out his vision for the next four years. In his first address since the election was called, he promised: “to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify.”

“To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy. We are not enemies. We are Americans,” he said.
He said, “Our work begins with getting COVID under control,” Biden said, adding that he will announce on Monday a task force and a plan to deal with the pandemic.
“That plan will be built on bedrock science,” he said. “I will spare no effort, none… to turn around this pandemic.”
Harris thanks voters for choosing ‘hope, unity and truth’ in record turn-out
Vice President-elect Kamala Harris has started off the speeches tonight in Delaware with a nod to Congressman John Lewis, who died earlier this year.
With the sound of car horns blaring and the crowd cheering as she walked in, she quoted Congressman Lewis, saying “democracy is not a state, it is an act”.
“And what he meant was that America’s democracy is not guaranteed. It is only as strong as our willingness to fight for it.
Vice President-elect Kamala Harris introduced her running mate, invoking the legacy of the late Georgia Congressman John Lewis and praising the campaign’s supporters for turning out in record numbers. She said voters had chosen hope, science and truth by selecting Biden as the next president, calling him a “healer and an uniter.”
