Despite the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) being a single institution operating in five English-speaking West African countries, its result-checking portals differ for each country. While the steps to check WASSCE results may appear similar, there are slight variations. Below are the steps for each country.
Before delving into the WAEC Result Checker Online Portal, it is essential to understand the general requirements for result checking. These requirements are similar to the list of countries that participate in WAEC.
What You need to check your WAEC Results Online:
- Type of Examination: It is necessary to note the examination type. We’ve already listed the types of the WASSCE Certification Examination above.
- Examination Number: The examination is usually a 10-digit number, which is also regarded as an “Index Number” in Gambia. This is the personal examination number issued to you for the examination.
- Examination Year: You must take note of the year you took (sat in) the exam.
- Scratch card: To proceed with checking your WAEC result, you need the WAEC scratch card result checker. The scratch card has a digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) that you see after scratching. Few checking limits (about 3 or 4 times check) for it to expire. So use your WAEC scratch card judiciously. Please, scratch carefully to avoid scratching out part of the secret information.
Ghana WASSCE Result Checker

Nigeria WASSCE Result Checker
The Nigeria WASSCE result checker portal is https://www.waecdirect.org/. The portal seems to have less information to provide to check results online when compared with other countries that write WASSCE. You only need to enter your Examination number, and year, select the exam type and enter the PIN and serial number of the scratch card.
Sierra Leone WASSCE Result Checker

Liberia WASSCE Result Checker
The Liberia portal form requires similar information to the Sierra Leone result-checking process. The official website for the Limberia WASSCE result checking portal form is https://result.liberiareg.org/.
Gambia WASSCE Result Checker
The official Gambia WAEC result checking portal is https://app.waecgambia.org/resultchecker/. Go to the official website, then enter the information as required. Then click on the “Submit” button to display your result and a copy will be sent to your email address as well.
WAEC Digital Certification
What is WAEC Digital Certification?
The WAEC digital platform is an official platform of the West African Examinations Council, that enables candidates to easily obtain and securely share their certificates online with prospective educational institutions around the world. Through the platform, candidates can also retrieve their original certificates.
While applying to obtain and forward the original WAEC certificates online with prospective educational institutions, a certain fee is required to pay first. To get started, an account is required to be created first through the official website. The website can generally be accessed by the candidates of the 5 WAEC-writing countries.
WAEC Digital Certification New Account Portal
Creating an account on the WAEC Digital Certificate portal is easy by using the steps below;
- Visit https://portal.waec.org/account/register
- Click on the “Certificate Access (Candidate)” button
- Then fill in the required information correctly. Ensure to review your information and that you’re happy with it.
- Then click on the “Sign up” button.
- You’ll receive a confirmation code through your email address and phone number. Enter the code to complete the registration process.
