Since being launched in 2020, HBO Max Originals has been a streaming platform with the high potentiality of surviving among the likes of Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, Prime etc. It has lots of content, most of which are originals. Of these shows and movies available, some stand out.

1. Adventure Time: Distant Lands

Adventure Time: Distant Lands is a cartoon series produced by Cartoon Network Studios and Frederator Studios. It was released on HBO Max in June 2021. The series is about the adventures of Finn and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake, a dog with magical powers to change shape and size at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo, where they interact with the series’ other main characters, including Princess Bubblegum, Marceline the Vampire Queen, and BMO.

2. Raised By Wolves

Raised by Wolves is one of the top-rated series originally released on HBO Max? The plot is of two androids (Mother and Father) given the task of raising human children on a mysterious virgin planet; as the human colony threatens to be torn apart by religious differences, the androids learn that controlling the beliefs of humans is a treacherous and difficult task. It was produced by Jon Kuyper and some of its casts are Amanda Collin; Abubakar Salim; Winta McGrath; Niamh Algar; Travis Fimmel; Jordan Loughran; Felix Jamieson; Ethan Hazzard and Aasiya Shah.

3. An American Pickle

This 1 hour 29 minutes comedy movie is jointly directed by Brandon Trost and Dylan Meyer. It was initially released in August 2020 on HBO max. The movie stars Seth Rogen, Sarah Snook and others. It is about a labourer (Seth Rogen) with dreams of having a better life in America who falls into a vat of pickle juice and is brined for 100 years and then wakes up in New York City and tracks down his great-grandson.

4. Arthur’s Law

This is a German-language series that has been originally released on HBO Max having being translated into English. The series centres around an unemployed and an unhappily married man (Arthur Ahnepol) who without written law seeks to solve a certain problem and end up causing another, and sets off an avalanche of disastrous events.

5. Legendary

Legendary is a reality TV show originally on HBO Max. The show is about a competition where eight teams (called “houses”) of LGBTQ+ contestants compete in various ball events for a $100,000 grand prize. The major events on the show are voguing; dancing; runway; walking and others. These four judges in the show, are Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, Leiomy Maldonado and Megan Thee Stallion. The show which started in May 2020 is currently in season 2.

6. Baketopia

This is another reality TV show which was premiered on HBO on the 25th of March, 2020. The show is being hosted by Rosanna Pansino and stars Donal Skehan. The show is about Rosanna Pansino and others bakers collecting ingredients to make larger-than-life, Pinterest-worthy cakes.

7. Beth Stelling: Girl Daddy

This is an hour comedy movie produced by Conan O’Brien’s Team Coco and directed by Payment Benz. It stars the popular comedienne, Beth Stelling, artfully and hilariously tell how family, society, and the eyes who’ve shaped her. It was originally released on HBO max in 2020.

8. The Dog House: UK

The is another highly rated originals on HBO. The Dog House was premiered in 2019 and it is about a dog rescue centre in the British countryside and tells the adoption stories of all its four-legged friends. The name of the charity is Wood Green, The Animals Charity in Cambridge shire. Doom Patrol

9. Tig N’ Seek

Tig N’ Seek is another show by Cartoon Network Studios on HBO Max. The show follows the adventure of a young boy who is a detective named Tiggy and his cat Gweeseek, who can make gadgets. Their goal is to recover items at the Department of Lost and Found. Needless to say, the show is good for kids and teens.

10. Love Life

Love Life was the launch of HBO Max immediately after it hit the theatre. The series is focused on a different person each season and tell the stories of their various romances throughout life. It was produced by Denise Pinckley. Some casts include Anna Kendrick; Zoë Chao; Peter Vack; Sasha Compère and others.
